@Cate&Rob some of those setting you're looking for are under Setting and then User Tagging settings. I do like the notifications when someone tags me so I know to immediately go to that post.

Not sure it's available here yet, but on another forum I'm on you can "tag" a member by putting a "@" in front of their username in the body of a post. This will alert that person that you mentioned them in some other thread/post that they, possibly, haven't read/participated in.

@livinthelife is correct. This will come in handy throughout the forum. For example: Let's say that I know Jim has specific knowledge of a topic that has been brought up. I can tag Jim so he's aware of the post simply by saying something like: I'm pretty sure @J&G garage has had this issue before, maybe they can shed some light on it.

Dear Chris,

You titled this post "Upcoming Additions." Hmm. That gives me *no* clue about the thread's subject matter. Since it was a new post, I bothered to open it up and read it to see if it was relevant to me. No it wasn't, but I spent at least 5 minutes figuring that out.

I think being much more specific in post titles -- and leading by example -- would help this forum out a lot. Right now, we have way too many posts with titles like "Stuff" or "Things."
