    Show Me Your Battery Boxes

So I'm looking to increase my battery bank from 2 - 6 volt batteries kept in 2 separate boxes in the front storage to 4 - 6 volt batteries stored in the pass through. I would REALLY like a single box that would hold the 4 batteries end to end but I can't find anything online. Found some boxes that hold 4 batteries in pairs side by side and end to end but not all 4 end to end.

I've seen a setup with 4 batteries in individual boxes which I would also consider but I can't find any boxes with the appropriate vent "stacks". Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.

Anyway, any suggestions for websites or pictures on similar arrangements would be appreciated.

    Here's what I have:

Here's what I would be satisfied with but can't find the top vented boxes:

Here's what I did. It's only three batteries, but I can easily add more if needed. It's a bit more upfront, but long term less and only weighs 90#.

Paul - I've looked for vented boxes like that, too, and had just about decided that they aren't made. Are the vents on your current setup stock or have they been added? Any brand names or numbers on the boxes?

Seems like it wouldn't be that difficult to add some sort of flanged fitting to the top.

Good question John. I customized these boxes from 2 old 12 V boxes I had that came with "vent stacks" (my own term because I have no idea what they are actually called ) I have some pictures somewhere but these old boxes had the stacks formed into their tops so I cut a large square out of the tops including the stacks. Then I drilled a hole in the new box and inserted these pieces from the inside and RTVd them in place.

It has occurred to me that the absence of vented boxes may indicate that vents aren't really necessary. Perhaps the need exists only due to an accidental insertion in the RV code. I've long had a theory that the RV construction code was written by someone who had never seen an RV and whose only prior employment was as a circus freak with a wierd sense of humor.

Search on "hydrogen" in the search tool in the upper right corner. One example https://www.mygrandrv.com/fo...light=hydrogen
Follow the various links to what can happen . . . there is a valid reason that the OE batteries are vented outside the trailer.

When I was shopping for a possibly box to handle 2 golf cart batteries I ran into the same problem. If you google "vented battery box" or "battery box vent" there are numerous kits and boxes out there. Just takes a bit of searching. To install the vent kit you just need a good hole saw of the correct size, pretty much plug and play.

    Hope this helps
