I want to take this opportunity to thank you, LV Naturist, and all of you on this forum who have served, for your service to our country.

I did not serve in the military. I received my draft number at 18 and when I graduated I took steps to join the Navy. I met a girl and got married instead and the draft was discontinued. I started working on the American Dream that was made possible by those that have served and those that have fallen.

Now I'm retired and have a darn good life. There's not a day goes by that I don't think about those that have sacrificed their time or even their lives to ensure our freedom. When I see a vet, I want to shake his or her hand and often do. They never ask for thanks. They should never have to.

Kim, while I appreciate your thanks, on this day the true thanks go to those who gave all. I just wanted to post a reminder that as we are all enjoying our 3 day weekend, having family and friends over for BBQ's, and looking forward to the start of summer, on this day we honor our fallen. We thank a Gold Star mother. We get a lump in our throat when we see the Stars and Stripes, not to exclude our brothers and sisters up north. We remember that our prosperity and those of people around the world are because of their sacrifice. This Monday as we are enjoying our festivities, raise a glass to those who didn't make it home!

Jamie and I are proud former Argo's 2011-2013. It was my first fleet tour fresh out of flight school and by far the greatest time in the navy yet.

After I left they started a "throwback Thursday" where they wore the old patch you have posted here on their flight suits.

Hey wstcoaster07, I changed my avatar for Memorial Day. Yes I was an Argonaut from 76-79. It was my fleet assignment after A school. At that time 147 was flying the A7-E Corsair 2 and attached to the USS Constellation CV64. Our home base was at NAS LeMoore Calif. At the end of my enlistment in Dec 79 I wanted to reenlist in the Navy. We had just had 2 WestPacs back to back and training in Fallon. We were getting ready to deploy again for another WestPac in 80 aboard the Connie and it seemed like they were getting longer. The CO Phillip Gubbins wanted me to reenlist in 147 because I was the AE work center supervisor, training petty officer and was low power turn qualified and a QA inspector.

However my wife was having a hard time of it. The first two years of our marriage we were only together about 3 months. She was back at the base in LeMoore and all of her family was back in Indiana. It was going to be hard for her to go through another 9 months alone. Yes she had the Squadron family but it wasn't the same. So I left the Navy. Man I could tell you some stories about the old 147!!
