TCL TV Picture Brightness

I just can't seem to get the screen brightness adjusted for comfortable viewing on the large TCL TV in our living area. It is just too bright and intense. I've tried various brightness and contrast settings from the setup menu along with the automatic adjustments and can't seem to find a good setting. Has anyone taken the time to play around with this? The picture quality is very good, but it's just too bright for comfort and somewhat hard on the eyes.

Yes, I cycled through those and found the cinema mode seemed to be the less intense brightness but it seems all of them are a little too bright for my taste. I do seem to get eye strain looking at bright lights fairly quickly so maybe it's just me.
