Ford TPMS Kit Install on 5th Wheel

Got a new Ford 350 SRW, Got a 1 YO GD 303. When I bought the truck it came with a Ford TPMS and Aux Camera Kit. I don't want to use the camera as I already have a wireless rear camera. But I do want to take advantage of the trailer TPMS kit. I just had the valve stems installed on all four trailer tires, now I need to mount the TPMS module on the trailer and then wiring to the bumper wiring plug. Any hints or ideas on where to mount the module and how/where to run the wiring harness to the bumper without it looking crabbed up??

    thanks,

This thread should answer your questions. I did this with my 2017 F350. It's slick. Page 7 has info on where to source the correct valve stems and the TPMS kit including the modifications to the truck side of the equation. I had Sam's club install my valve stems and Ford sensors when I had Sailun tires installed. Less than $100 USD for the tire removal, install, mount and balance. For the wheels on our 2016 Solitude I needed the custom valve stems for the additional thickness of the wheels.

I had my stems installed today but Ford is saying they have to program them (not to the truck but to activate them) before the truck can see them? Also, when I plug in the cable to the monitor it is extrembly loose is there something on the monitor that has to be removed or do I just need to insert the cable a little harder? Thx

I haven’t had my sensors installed yet but I’ve read there’s a process where you teach the truck which sensor is where by airing down the pressure sequentially.

If you’re talking about the cable that runs from the truck to the trailer, there’s a blank plug in the “monitor” that you need to remove before plugging it in.

This is correct. There is a menu in the information display that walks you through it. It only took me a couple minutes. One thing I did to reduce the amount of air released from the tires was to pause in between letting air out rather than just releasing air until the horn honked.

Here is a YouTube video showing how it's done:
