Red Pex blew a hole just behind the outlet connection.

We are RVing in our 303 in West Glacier, and took a ride into the hinterlands today only to come home to a soaked RV! Fortunately most of the water poured into the belly and not in the RV proper. But it’s a mess. A neighborturned the water off about 2pm, we got back at 7pm. - we unloaded the basement, took off the inside panel and drawers and found the culprit. We are bypassing the water heater until a tech shows up Monday. But what’s suggestions are there for all the wet insulation?

Hi Mike - Sorry to hear this, but I suspect that what burst at the water heater is the "soft hose" that GDRV uses in place of Pex tubing in some locations. We went through the same thing as you describe, but caught it fairly early. See attached pictures and the first posts in this thread https://www.mygrandrv.com/fo...g-Hose-vs-Pex? In this thread, I also have some ideas on how too make an "adapter" from a Pex fitting to the soft hose. Despite GDRV's assertion that soft hose clamped to Pex fittings is OK . . . I am currently in the process of replacing all the soft hose with Pex tubing in our similar vintage 303RLS.

As far as drying the wood and insulation . . . there are two solutions. If the weather is dry, opening everything up and even dropping the coroplast is probably the best alternative. Fans would help to move the air. The other way is to close everything up and run dehumidifiers in the coach and in the pass through storage. The only insulation directly above the coroplast is a sheet of aluminum foil that won't absorb water. The insulation that will be difficult to dry out is the batt insulation between the chassis frame and the main floor.

Did these failures happen with or without a pressure regulator?

Hi Jim, in our case it was with a pressure regulator.

Fixed the rubber tubing coming out of the hot water heater and found a drip coming out of the same hose at the KantLeak valve. When to turn the hot water heater back on electric and it doesn’t heat up. Appears that I have some corrosion on this brown wire.

Our red flex hose bubbled on us and was leaking. I replaced it all with Pex.

Hi Mike - This is also a common problem. When these soft hose to Pex fitting connections are disturbed in any way, they start to drip. Just moving one end of a hose around as you repair it will move the other end enough to start a leak. I have had this happen several times. I have reported this to GDRV, but their response so far is all the “engineering” reasons that this won’t happen. Well . . . it does happen.

Mike - WRT the water heater not working on electric, check the breaker and the outlet that the water heater plugs into. This outlet is close to the hose that burst and probably got soaked with water.
