Most likely no to the safety feature. Not saying it is or isn’t a good idea.
Look to see if the propane line is pinched.
Edit: also check the red battery switch, it needs to be in the on position.
The electronics of the refrigerator operate on 12volt DC even when when on shore power. When on shore power and the battery switch is off the refrigerator will happily run from the 12volts from the converter.

Well I must say that a pinched gas line was my least expected culprit from a new RV. Turns out that’s exactly what it was. The line enters the slide out under the fridge and they drilled the hole too far in. When the slide is retracted, it pinches the line and is wallowing our the drilled hole.
