Towing a jet ski with a Solitude?

Thanks ahead of time for all the inputs this site is amazing!

We are purchasing a GD Solitude 310 GK R and have waded through the posts about adding a hitch. I have also gone to the frame manufacturers website, but the only hitch they list is the one for 300 lbs. Is anyone towing a small boat or jet ski with a Solitude, and is so how did you get a receiver welded/bolted to it. I realize that absent an approved solution by the frame manufacturer our frame warranty may be voided.

    Thanks again,

    Cam

I reviewed the previous posts and may have missed the post "Solitude receiver hitch." I pm'd the folks that are having it done and hope to get some contact info at Lippert to get the same thing done on ours.

Be sure to check the license requirements for your home state before pulling a trailer behind a trailer. Where I live, in CA, you need a simple endorsement on your license to tow a Solitude 310 because the GVW for the trailer doesn't exceed 15,000 lbs. You need the endorsement because the Solitude GVW is over 10,000 lbs. One pound more and you'd need a noncommercial class A. California doesn't permit towing more than one vehicle unless you have a commercial Class A. Different states have different rules, and if you're legal in your home state, you're good everywhere, but if you're not properly licensed and have an accident...

The hitch can tow up to 3,000 lbs, but it can only handle a tongue weight of 300 lbs (10%). If you're towing a single jet ski, you're probably nowhere near 300 lbs tongue weight.

Did you ever have a hitch welded to your 5th Wheel? If so, please provide the type. I'm interested in doing the same on mine.

Don’t weld the hitch to the trailer frame. Welding alters the metallurgy and will void your warantee. Drill and bolt it (5/8” gr 8) instead, this is what the hitch shop did with mine.

No idea, whatever the hitch shop sells, it is a Class III however.
