Slide opened while driving home yesterday!!!

So we have the 2018 momentum 376th and we closed up everything as usual and like 2 hours down the road a person in a pickup truck came up to our passenger side and was honking and waving and pointing to the side of our RV and wife was like what ??

    Then she saw it ..

the living room slide was all the way out,

I almost ya... messed my britches!.. lol

Anyhow, so I pulled over just as soon as we cleared the construction zone that we just came up too, luckily the living room slide is up high or we would have hit the concrete wall!.

So, I got pulled over and got slide back in and shut off the main switch so that wouldn’t happen again.

But then I noticed that it also shut off my rear camera with that switch.. ugh another issue that they will need to address.

    Has anyone had this happen?

Not electrically. Had a slide partially open while traveling then discovered a broken hydraulic line.

Are you talking about one of the sofa slides?

That model only has sofa slides as far as a living room slide, and they are Schwintek systems.

I've never seen one open by itself. Could be a bad switch. You physically have to remove wires to override the motors to get them closed in case of malfunctions.

Wow! i would have thought there would be some kind of failsafe system installed to ensure a slide could NEVER open except upon command. Can you imagine if that happened to a street side slide while driving down a road the that slide goes through the windshield of an oncoming vehicle?!

And I thought a tire blowout was the big thing I had to worry about while driving. That is frightening.

My dad used to have a Holiday Rambler Motorhome with hydraulic slide out. I remember it came with this locking bar that went in place on the inside to prevent a slide from coming out due to hydraulic failure. Thankfully he never forgot to remove it before putting the slide out.

I used a locking bar on a 25 foot coachman TT. It came with the trailer. I never really even considered it for my 303RLS with its three slides.

If you're stressed about this you can always install a bar to manually block it while in motion. Just don't forget when you go to open them.

I have had a few issues with that particular switch before when bringing them in, the switch stuck closed. I will have them replace switch for sure.

NOPE... funny because the Tire issue from reading here!!!! Has been my biggest fear, not now. But to bypass anything else from opening up in the future, I am just going to shut off that red main cutoff from now ON!!!
