Camping in Michigan
We are in search a campground in southern Michigan, about a 5 to 7 hours away from Louisville, KY.
Things we like to do:
General site seeing
Visit/tour wineries, breweries and distilleries
Canoe (must be able to rent)
Light hiking
Swimming
Waking the dogs
Any suggestion are greatly appreciated.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Not many wineries in southern MI, Grand rapids has plenty of breweries. BUT
If you can stretch it to an 8 hr drive the best spot to get everything on your list would be the Traverse city area. Traverse has breweries like crazy, I think they have the pedal car bar hopper there. A short drive to the Leelenau Peninsula for wineries. Beaches on inland lakes, Traverse Bay and Lk MI. With plenty of hiking oppurtunities in the area.
It would help people help you if they knew what type of campground you're looking for.Marcy & Gary

Check out Sunny Brook Resort in South Haven, MI. We just spent a long weekend there. It is a little pricey. Upscale, very well kept, and nice facilities. For something a less expensive, Kal-Haven RV Park is nearby but we have not stayed there. South Haven is a nice lakeside town. You will be about 30 minutes from Saugatuck which is also a picturesque town and has a brewery. Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids are each about an hour away and have many brewery choices including Bell's (Kalamazoo), and too many to list in GR (Founders and Perrin are both very nice). Holland, just north of Saugatuck, is also a nice place to visit (also has breweries and lots of shops). If you make it over towards KZOO, don't miss Air Zoo which is a fantastic air & space museum. There are few wineries in the region but I have not been to any of them. There is a biking/walking trail called Kal-Haven Trail that connects South Haven and Kalamazoo. Enjoy!
PS - I196 can be quite rough in spots between Saugatuck and Grand Rapids.

When we head to that side of Michigan we usualy have our lunch stop at Grissom Air Museum. Great place to stop and stretch our legs.
