There have been several discussions here about different options for behind the stovetop backsplash in the wallpaper behind the kitchen range. We seriously considered several of them, including vinyl self-adhesive and glass or metal tiles. We rejected the vinyl tiles over concerns about nearness to the stovetop propane burners. The glass and metal tiles kind of stretched the budget too much !

So our decision was to install a cut-to-size sheet of 20 guage brushed stainless steel (very similar to the microwave and stove stainless.) and attached it with double-sided tape, so that it can be removed later, if desired. I finished the vertical edges using the original trim pieces. Here is the finished product.

I'm an old hotrodder and think an engine turned accent would look cool. A little spendy, though.
