    Air compressor recommendation

We just bought our first rig, a 337RLS :-), and an F350 SRW Diesel. To make it easy to carry items in the truck bed, we are installing a Reese Goose Box that includes an air spring. It occurred to me that we will need a small air compressor for this, for the truck/RV tires, and perhaps for truck air springs if needed. Can someone recommend a small, lightweight, but strong enough air compressor that I should consider buying? It can run off 12VDC (car adapter) or 120VAC since my F350 has two outlets included. And with all the RV accessories we need to buy, I really don't want to spend too much.

    Thanks!

    Alan

I recently installed a VIAIR 450H http://www.viaircorp.com/h-models/450h. Mine is plumbed to run my air bags but also to fill tires. Note the 100% duty cycle and 150 psi working pressure.

Those installed compressors are indeed very nice and convenient. I found one of those on sale at Amazon for $194. It's interesting that I can find portable compressors that will do standard car/truck tires (35-40psi) for $40 with 4.5 stars, but to get to reliable 90 psi, the cost is 5 times as much. I just have to believe that there's something in between that is less expensive that will do the job albeit a little slower. Anyone find something like that?

Okay, I'll be the odd man out! In the Jeeping community (most off road enthusiasts actually), we air down our tires when we hit the trail, then air back up when we hit pavement. This is for lots of reasons that are not really relevant here. Anyway, I'm a cheap sucker. Literally 10 years ago, I bought a cheap Harbor Freight compressor. With a little care, that thing has lasted I don't know how many trail runs in 10 years. Just this past spring, it finally gave up the ghost. Not bad for a $60 compressor! And you know what? I replaced it with another one. Everybody loves the big name brands, but sometimes there are other viable options...

Edited to add: The only thing I do to this compressor, is before each use, I unscrew the air filter and give the compressor a quick squirt of WD40.

I have to plug into AC power, but I use this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It fits easily in the front storage compartment. Nice to be able to check and fill at the campsite; won't help me on the road.

Bought 12 volt Milwuakee Inflator and really like it. All my power tools for camper are either 12v or 18v Milwaukee. Carry drill, screw gun, saws-all, blower, vacuum and this inflator. It makes quick work of topping off camper and truck tires and like it because it has gauge and goes to 120 psi with auto cut off at set pressure. Very small and compact.
