    USAF 1968-1972
June, 1968 - Lackland AFB, TX 3709 BMTS, Flight 603
August, 1968 - Lowry AFB, CO Tech School
December, 1968 - Hill AFB, Utah 2727th Air Munitions Test Sq
September, 1970 - Taegu AB, Korea 6168th Combat Support Sq
October, 1971 - Nellis AFB, NV 57th Munitions Maintenance Sq
    June, 1972 - Home

I was a 461x0 Munitions Maintenance Specialist. it was hard but interesting work. I wish I could have worked with some of the sophisticated munitions that are on the scene these days. I pretty much liked all my duty stations but being a young newly wed in 1970, the 13 month unaccompanied tour to Korea was not fun. I should have stayed and retired but my wife was having none of it.

Commissioned 1974, USAF Nurse Corps. Med-surg, critical care.
    1977 - 1979 USAF Reserves
    1979 - 1984 US Army Reserves/ANG
1984 - 1993 active duty, US Army Nurse Corps. Critical care, clinical head nurse PACU.
1993 - 2001 US Army Reserves. Information management officer 3297th USAH (field grade/branch immaterial... for those who know what that means).

Put in a request for retirement orders in August of 2001... then 9/11 happened. Figured I just needed to make sure my kit was ready and affairs were in order. That December, my retirement orders came through. Go figure.

Wow! Such diverse careers and experiences. Thank you all for your service, and to those who served in Viet Nam a well deserved "Welcome Home!" Out of all the units I served in, my absolute favorite was the 626 Tactical Control Flight in Bremerhaven GE. That was the Forward Air Control Post. Man did we work hard. Spent more time deployed than we did in garrison. But we partied hard too. That was '79 to '83, some 35 years ago. And yet a good many of us are still close friends. We have had 2 formal reunions and several get togethers, and to this day we can still rely on each other. These are long term bonds that few civilians experience.

Thank you for sharing your stories!
