Question regarding coolness in pass through

Have been at the lake since last Wednesday and are suffering quite the heat wave with indices in the 100s but over the weekend I noticed when I went into the pass through a marked difference in the temperature. It got me to wondering if I have some type of air leak in the ducts that is allowing air to enter there. Anyone else noticed this and if so found the duct that was allowing air to escape?

    Thanks

All of the AC ducts on your 303 are in the ceiling. I can't imagine a leak that would cool the pass-thru.

under some of the cabinets in our solitude it is open to the pass thru so cold air sinks and cools down that area.

In my 18 303. Under the 3 drawers of the Hutch (center) there is air passage that must be where the basement get some cool air. I found this running a 12v plug for run my cooler.
I just keep the basement doors close during high heats, humid days.

It is also possible that behind the toilet there is a "cold air" return for the furnace. this is a direct opening to the basement storage. could be the cold air is going down thru this. maybe try placing a towel or something over this.
    just a thought....

The openings under the hutch and behind the toilet are the air return paths for the furnace. It makes sense that cold air would “drop” through these to the lower pass-through storage areas below. No reason that these could not be blocked off in the summer . . . just have to remember to open them up when heating season comes around.

Good observation Lee. Since we have only one AC, we need to keep all the cold air we have! I am going to figure out how to seal these openings in the summer.

I felt a breeze coming from my pocket door when the passthru doors were open.
Saw the wall where the tank vent pipes run up to the roof is all open to the basement.

That's a good place to , did not think of that. Being as GD has a tendency to have not done a good job on the furnace duct work there is probably some discrepancies in the A/C duct work as well. Will have to look at mine as well.

They did that on purpose. That's where you keep the kids when they're bad. Duh.

Lee - that is something I discovered a few years ago and shared about the open areas under the hutch, vents, etc. with folks in this thread post number 17 attached :
