There is an AAV under each bathroom sink, and one under the kitchen sink. They cost about $24 at Lowes.

2019 Solitude 375RES-Shower Drain Odor/Smell after draining the kitchen sink.
2019 Solitude 375Res question. Sometimes after doing the dishes and draining the dishwater we can smell the gray water coming from the bathroom area only. Tanks have been drained so being full is not the problem. We checked underneath and there are no leaks as the bottom panel now has holes in it for drainage. So question is...why? In addition, I can see straight down the shower drain into the gray tank, at least it looks like the gray tank. Is that right? I've read all the previous posts regarding the smell/odor/gray tanks and replacing the ASTVD, however this is a new rig so that shouldn't be the problem, right?. After awhile the odor does goes away especially after I throw a qt of lemon water down it. Suggestions, ideas, eg. using a plug to cover the shower drain when not in use? dunno?

The AAV may be either bad or stuck. Have you determined it is from the shower for sure?
I personally will not close off any drain, I removed all drain plugs and put them under the sinks, if the water accidentally gets turned on (amazing how they mysteriously turn themselves on) and the drain is plugged all that water has to go someplace...like the floor and cause quite a mess.
Not plugging the drains buys you time to discover the problem,, if your tanks fill then you get the same messMarcy & Gary

Once again and certainly not for the last time, MANY thanks to the members of this forum. Bathroom odor is solved! More importantly, Kathe is HAPPY!
Picked up two Studor vents at Home Depot. One is currently a spare; we may proactively install it in the kitchen at some point.

This is a great thread. I too will pick up new AAVs. If I am not mistaken I think there is one behind the shower fixture too? Thought I saw one after removing access panel awhile back. Will check again.

Stench under the bathroom cabinet
It might be a good idea to post a link and/or photo as an example since some folks may have no idea what the AAV is that Whittleburner referenced, or what a “studor vent” is.

AAV = Air Admittance Valve. It is used under sinks where a vent to the roof would be impractical or impossible.
