If you go with roll up doors it will have to be 16 foot to the bottom of the rafters. This is needed for the door tracks (2 feet above the door header), or this is what I was told by the builder and door installers. If you go with sliding doors, then you will not be restricted.

Go the barn underway. Went with 30x40x16. We broke ground. Any tips along the way, send them on. I’ll post a few pics:

I am in the process of building a Versatube garage--24 x 36 with 10' sidewalls. They are built somewhat like those prefab carports except they are much more substantial in structure.

I have an asphalt parking lot that I am building the garage on. That is saving me big $ not having to pour a big concrete slab. I am cutting the asphalt and digging two 12" x 12" trenches 36' long for concrete footings.

Two garage doors go in one end wall--9x12' and 9x9'. I am going to put another 9x12' hinged door on the other end so my 24 foot boat can be driven through. Siding will be OSB covered by Hardiplank horizontal planks--much cheaper than using metal siding. I am using a painted metal roof made on sight and installed by professionals.

Such buildings can be built large enough for RVs. But the larger, taller structures need installed by professionals. Mine is about the max needed for a shadetree builder like myself.

Nine foot wide doors? IMO you are going to regret that. Ten foot as an absolute minimum but 12 foot wide preferred for putting trailers in and out.

I agree. 6" clearance on either side is not nearly enough. I put a 12' door in mine, and even painted stripes on the floor for a visual reference.

Got the concrete poured today. They did a terrible job . Two guys pouring in direct sun on a 97 degree day equals quick drying.

Interesting. The last two things in the construction of my pole building was pouring the concrete floor and then doors installs.

I've never understood the way they are built in some areas. It is so much easier to fill after construction and then pour concrete rather than doing it beforehand.
