Do I need a MORryde independent suspension and disc brakes?

I was wondering how these shear springs mount as I don't recall seeing them before besides the ones on the axle assembly.

One of the techs i chatted with referred to them as an old system. As I look at it, I wonder if it's even independent.

Here's one of the 7K IS "axles" that showed up for our rig. I think/hope the other axle will be here tomorrow (Day 3) and the proper shear springs will be installed then too. The disc rotors and calipers are the ones taken from the old axles. I did spring for new Timken bearings. One less issue to worry about.
