What did/do you do that enabled you to do what you do now?
Was just curious and have seen these on other forums. Tell us what you did/what you do, that afforded you to be where you are now?
Myself I started running cranes about 7 years ago in the oil fields in West Texas. Once it bottomed out in 12/13 I had to hit the road for work. Good thing I already had a TT, as I found myself in Greenwood, South Carolina, Garden City, Kansas, Baytown, Corpus Christi, Sweeney, Tx, before getting called back to West Texas when the boom started again. I sold my previous TT and lived in company housing for a while. Got tired of that and decided I wanted a 5th wheel this time around and we settled on the Solitude. We’ve loved it every since and hope it last. Now this is my “work camp” where myself, and sometimes the family hang out when I’m on my rotation. Hopefully soon it will become more of a family vacation item rather than work item. If things fall into place that may be sooner than expected...
Not sure I could ever sell my main house and be a permanent full timer, but I’ve learned to never say never.
So...what’s your story?

Ellen and I both had professional jobs in the medical field and we have no kids. Invested 20-30% of our income for 25 years and retired in our 50's completely debt-free. Decided to try RV'ing so bought a new RAM Rebel and the Imagine 2600RB to see how we like it. Before this it was cruises and flying everywhere. Hopefully, this will get us to slow down and really enjoy the journey as well as the destination. Get busy living or get busy dying... Andy Dufrane from Shawshank Redemption

We have been 1/2 time rvers for about 20 to 17 years now. Wife retired from Quest with 33 years - I retired from Government of Colorado with 30 years. DW was a computer techy and I was a CPA (and MPA). Wife gets retirement from Quest which also pays part of our health ins. as well as social security. I get retirement from Public Employees Retirement Assoc. (PERA) and a very small amt from SS. These funding sources have enabled us to enjoy the RVing lifestyle. We love heading south for the winter and spending 5 months or so in our Solitude. We generally head south as soon as the first snow falls here in Colorado. There are three other letters after my name that I am very proud of -- PSM = Past Scout Master!

My wife and I both spent over 20 years at a large GM/RV dealer, she in parts, I in service/sales. When we left the RV business, we swore we would never own one, but finally gave in as we hated traveling without our dogs. I am now retired and my wife is a mortgage LO so there are a couple more years of long weekend trips until she finally hands her business over to our son and we can take off for weeks/months at a time. I haven't had to endure the whole airport nightmare for 3 years now...life is good!
