    Pin box white writing removal?

On our new 337rls either the dealer or MFG wrote with white paint a portion of the VIN and model on the pin box. We have tried various chemicals to remove it but we get more black than white. Anyone have any good ideas?

Pete717 - We had the same thing. It is done at the factory to easily identify the last 3 or 4 digits of the VIN. It is a grease pencil that embeds itself right into the pin box paint. I actually mentioned at a plant tour about how difficult this marking was to get off. I eventually repainted my pin box and had to sand well into the original paint to get past this marking so that the new paint would stick.

Same here. Ended up taking paint off. I would try something like lemon oil as a first course if I were to try again.

We just took the pinbox off altogether - replaced it with a Demco Glide Ride pin box (big improvement in chucking). Otherwise, I would just clean it well and pick up a can of black Rustoleum.

Mine was yellow not white. I got most of mine off using WD-40 and a rag. When I get a chance I'm going to use WD-40 and scrub brush. Think that will do it.

I took pictures of the decals that were on there. Removed them, sanded the pin box and repainted.

I did exactly the same thing. Took me an hour to tarp and mask off the front of the RV, 10 minutes to remove the labels and sand the pin box . . . and 30 seconds to paint it .

    Oven cleaner.

I sprayed it on, let it sit for about a minute and used a cloth to remove the numbers. It took a little scrubbing but not much.

Rinsed it with water and let it dry. There was a little white haze on the black paint so I put on a coat of Nu-Finish car wax and it looks fine.

Total work time was about 5 minutes.

I suspect any good degreaser would work, I just happened to have the oven cleaner on hand so I tried it.
