He used to wheel with me a lot in Calif and NV.
    Thanks,
I used to take it up the San Gabriel Canyon Rd. to the back end of the reservoir. Looking at Google maps there looks to be a San Gabriel Canyon OHV park there nowadays. Back in '83 we just dove off the side of the road

    Cheers,

I not in the same class as most of you, we just have a stock 2017 Sahara that I tow behind my motorhome. I will say we really enjoy doing some easy trail and getting places where we couldn't go before. We got a bike rack and 4 person golf that fits inside the jeep and next year we going to add Kayaks to the mix. Every place we camp we are looking for new trails and we finding their lot people in campgrounds like us that just get and do some easy 4 wheeling. We have met a lot of people just because of the common interest in Jeeps.

I was into dirt bikes then got into off roading. My favorite was my 1994 suzuki samurai. I often think that if I got another one, I'd just get a toy hauler and put it in the back! We had some awesome times with that little Zuk. 1.3 litres of fury! It would climb almost anything and fit down quad trails too. Had 31 inch tires on it and a high steer system with a spring over axle conversion. I regret selling it all of the time because it was a 1994 and had fuel injection. Very rare to find one like that.

We have a ‘17 JKU. We live in FL, reading all the great places you guys go wheeling out West makes me want to get a motorhome so we can pull the Jeep with us. Illegal to triple tow in FL, so can’t pull it behind the Reflection. But my wife has driven it seperately to a few campgrounds so we could explore. Nothing like you have out West, but still fun.

Nice Jeep! We do have a lot of fun areas to explore out west, but I'm sure there are a lot of neat areas where you are also. Just different. Sometimes the dryness out here makes for quite the adventure. A few weeks ago we were exploring an area where we had to cross a dry lake bed. In the middle of the dry lake there was an area of deep "poof dirt" (very fine dry silt, like cake flour) that completely covered the Jeep, could barely see the wipers! It was so bad we had to stop and tap out the air filter to continue! This coming weekend we are going on a run with the Jeep Club. The trail is on an Indian reservation and will take us down the Grand Canyon to the Colorado River. Should be real fun...

I spent many years of my younger life off roading in Toyota Land Cruisers. After my last cruiser I got a Jeep Cherokee, not the ones they make today but the big one like the Waggoneer only 6cyl standard shift w/2 speed txfr case. Later put a V-8 in it and made my own "Cherokee Chief". All those heavy 4x4s with manual transfer cases could really do some crawling, and I pulled many a pickup and many a CJ out of the mud with them. Went all over this state and know all the ghost towns and secret places. Still get out a bit but now driving a big crew cab 4x4, not so great on the trails but love it on the beaches in Mexico.

I like the look of the old Jeeps too.
    I owned a ‘79 Cherokee Golden Eagle.
    2 Door version of the Wagoneer. It had a 360 V8, TH400, Dana 44’s, FT 4WD.
It had leaf springs front and rear, rode like a brick, got 9 mpg and broke down once a month but
it was a cool looking rig and I have a lot of good memories in it.
