Dual Pane Window Failure

Just had a dual pane window failure and lesson on why they fail. The repair guys said from he has seen it 5% manufacture defect - 20% Age - 75% improper installation and that was the case with mine. On the frameless windows, they put too much pressure against the outside window pane by installing the window frame to far inboard and over time the sealant between the two pieces of glass will fail. Mine was on small windows that opens outward from the bottom and he said to don’t crank down tight will make it last longer. They sealed it up with some urethane type glue and said probably won’t last but it the best they could do without either replacing the window or removing it and sealing it correctly. I'm sure I got some trapped moister in between the panes but that's I will have to live with.

There is a guy that travels between rallies that his business is sealing up dual pane windows and hopefully I will run into in the near future and see what he can do and the cost.

Thanks for the heads up, we have dual pane windows. Was there any type of warning or symptom before the failure?

This was on the Fleetwood but same style windows on GD and the repair guy said he has seen this failure on all type RVs.

Nothing other then the outer pane was loose. I don't think I would lost since it was hinged.

OK, I was curious because the dual pane windows on our Grand Design aren't frameless and don't swing out. They slide horizontally.

We have a Reflection too and they don't have the frameless windows so they do operate differently.
