Recycling while fulltiming?
Three days into the adventure of fulltiming! At last!
In our sticks and bricks, we were avid recyclers. But now that we're on the road, we're trying to figure out how to do it. We haven't found campsites setting aside bins for recycling materials. We have seen places for returnables (soda, beer, wine, etc. containers).
How do you handle taking care of your plastic, paper, metal, and glass streams?
Thanks!

We kept a recycling tub and some local government agency's have bins. I also can go to a recycling center in my travels.
Usually have to dump bin every other week. We drink a lot of Propel water.Last edited by Jims94vmx; 08-22-2018 at 08:03 AM. Reason: Spelling

We do whatever the local practice is. RV parks in cities with active recycling usually have segregated containers. National Parks typically do as well. Otherwise it all goes in one bin. We try to minimize generating trash by not using plastic bottles, paper plates, etc.

As Alan and Dallas have stated, it depends largely on the policies of the local government entity. The one exception we've found is that nearly all Escapees co-op parks recycle on their own, regardless of where they are located. We keep three trash receptacles in the rig: 1) a small one in the bathroom, 2) a simplehuman step-lid at one end of the kitchen island for the normal "icky" kitchen waste, and 3) an open plastic (Rubbermaid, I think) can at the other end of the island for "clean" recyclables such as plastic, glass, paper, cardboard, etc. If we're someplace where we can recycle, we separate the stuff in #3 into the appropriate bins at the park/campground. We do whatever the park offers, which varies. It can be a pain though keeping the items until walking them to the bins.

One method is avoiding using disposable items and packaged food items as much. For water the motorhome has a whole house filter and there is another drinking water dispenser in the kitchen with it's own filter. In the GF trailer we use a Brita filter and refill bottles for a days excursion. We use our dishes and minimize the use of paper plates, plastic utensils etc. We rarely buy prepackaged foods that you nuke. Our trash is minimal and the same with recyclables.
It confuses me sometime why some people will fret about recycling and then buy their water in disposable bottles by the thousands. Properly filter water tastes fine and isn't contaminated. I'm far from an environut but am cheap and disposable items cost more to buy and dispose.2020 Ram Laramie 3500 DRW
