    Homemade Stabilizers (2x4s)

I am awaiting delivery of our new 312BHTS. In my research online, it seems that we can expect a fair amount of “bounce” with using just the factory stabilizers. With 4 kids in the bunkhouse, I have been researching options ahead of delivery to deal with this. I like the Steadyfast and JT Strongarm options, but I will be pretty tapped out after the trailer purchase.

I came across some threads touting a cheap, homemade fix, using some scrap 2x4s notched to sit under the frame, spread outward at a 45 degree angle, and pulled together with some eye bolts and a ratcheting cargo strap. This seems like a good low cost/low weight option.

Anyone tried this? How did it work? Any suggestions on placement?

    Thanks!

My first impression is that it looks like a possible design which may work. However, every strap I have ever used has some stretch factor and just a minor movement will not achieve the desired stable or close to it result.

JTs and SFs work relatively well as reported by many on the forum. We have JTs front and rear and our 303 And it is pretty darn stable. Cost was minimal relative to RV cost.

These work great on my 30 footer. The front end's jacks go front to back and this took out 98% of the side sway.
