Sweet '79, my first car was an '80 and then I bought a '78 cutlass. Wish I still had the '78 it was a lot of fun. Maybe someday I will get another.

I can remember pre-2008 that 62 Corvette would be a 6 figure easy and the T-Birds would easily be in the 60 to 100 thousand range. The segment I watch I would guess 80% of the cars were a no sale. Looks like to me the classic car market has gone soft. I watch for a couple of hours and no street rods.
The cars at Barrett-Jackson still get stupid. But yes, they aren't commanding what they once were.

What I find mind-boggling is that Fox body Mustangs and 3rd gen camaros are starting to increase in price.

Just thought I'd add my latest money pit. After the 70's I got away from muscle cars (i.e. career, wife, house and kids). Now and old fool got bit by the off road thing.

Not enough time in my life to build one. Was looking hard for something driveable. Not much around here worth the money for under 20k that didnt need another 10k. DW wife advised buy a new one....dont tell me that....so we did. Ordered a new 2015 Dodge Challeger ScatPack edition. Sublime Pearlcote Green. Only 50 that color that year. Early edition. 6.4 qHemi 8 speed auto 485HP. Got documentation there are only 8 identical to thjs build. All the build tickets...dealer scratchin for numbers. Really love the car. Had it 41/2 years. Only 3981 miles it. TONS OF FUN and dont have to work on it....Not an oldy but a goody. Its a "Time Machine' . When my wife and I get in it...we're 18 again.

    Yes, Im a gearhead...

Here's my latest project. 63 Nova (no, not an SS). Nearly ground up restoration. Repainted it myself (first time). Color is 2011 Honda Black Cherry. Pretty happy with how it turned out for first time.

    Nice Nova Mike.

I saw a race one night draggin' the gut one Sunday night. (early 70's) 2 built to the hilt Nova's with big blocks and huge high rise manifolds stickin' out of the hoods left the light and when the curb side car hit second gear, he lost traction. He went up the curb, hit 2 3ft poles protecting something and went right up the fence. After the fence, was the Taco Bell pole with the sign on top. He climbed right up that pole and hit the big sign. Sparks flew all over the place, just like in the movies. The car parked right there. Standing on the trunk.
It sucked to be him that night. KEN

Mike, that car brings back memories! My first car was a 63 Nova that I bought for $800 when I was 15. Of all the vehicles that I have owned over the years that is it he one that I wish I still had. Of course it was no where near as nice as yours. Great job!

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I appreciate the kind words.

It took quite a while to get it where it is... Now RVing is getting in the way.

That's the problem with too many hobbies... Not enough time!
