Is there a decent RV oven out there?

The standard Atwood oven in our 2016 337RLS is almost unusable. The straight burner under a thin piece of sheet metal does not heat the oven evenly and almost always burns the bottom of whatever is in the center of the oven before the rest of the item(s) is/are cooked. I've lost count of how many baking stones have exploded because of the hot spot in the center of the oven, including the last two Pampered Chef stones. When the last stone exploded this week, my wife was in tears and ready to throw the veggie lasagna she had worked on so hard out in the grass. I've gone to the Furrion web site and it seems the innards of their ovens are designed almost identically.

This brings me to the question in the title: Is there a decent RV oven out there that would fit into the same space without tearing the cabinetry apart and rebuilding it? By "decent," I mean a different burner/diffusion plate design and perhaps some better insulation. I've checked PPL Motorhomes' web wite, Amazon, Google Shopping, etc., and can only seem to find the standard fare. Am I chasing an elusive butterfly?

An aside: how about just using a couple of bricks instead of designer stones?

I wonder, has anyone used a piece of steel plate in the bottom of the oven, it shouldn't break and it should spread the heat. Paint it with muffler paint so it could stand the heat. Might work but I have never heard of anyone trying it.

Actually, we have used the lid from our 12" Lodge Dutch oven. While not perfect, it has helped to diffuse the heat better than a stone. It won't explode. Since that time I have been trying to buy a replacement lid for the oven I took it from, to no avail !!! So if anyone has a lid, send me a message.

We have a stainless steel round griddle that we put in the oven. It works like the pizza stone, but since we learned how the convection oven works that's all we use; the oven is strictly for storage space now

We love the convection microwave ovens. Worked well in all our units and I'd replace it if it dies the same day. Never been a fan of the propane ovens in RVs. Never found one I liked.

I've read about many problems with the evenness of heating in the stove. While I haven't cooked a whole lot in my oven, I've not encountered any problem.

For the most part, I cook casseroles, in a heavy casserole pan. And I have to stir it 1/2 way through cooking and turn it around. I do that in my "regular" oven at home, also.

Unglazed ceramic floor tiles work well and won't explode.

We also use the heavy Pampered Chef casserole dishes and they seem to work very well.

We've had no problems with our Atwood. We use a large 14" Lodge pizza pan. We've also used our 20 year old PC pizza stone many times. Maybe it's well seasoned and more durable. Best is the Lodge 14" pizza pan though.
