Pay more attention to 7 way connection when disconnecting!!!

I am wondering - how did you get stabbed in the hand by a stingray? When I catch one the first order of business is break off the barb.

Steve, I guess I got lucky in the past, I've caught plenty of them with no issues. As I was removing the hook a small wave rolled him and I didn't let go in time. It was dark and I was in a hurry. Stupid move.

Yep! I now know I need to anticipate what could go wrong if given the opportunity. This is our 2nd 5th wheel and never gave it any any thought the the 7 way could "fall" into that gap. If fact, I used the dangling cord as an indicator I was clear from the trailer! Stupid!!!!

Funny you say that! I only found 1 screw on the ground under the pin box. I too used heavier deck screws to secure the electrical box after the repair. I figured the cord will be compromised either way and I'd rather not compromise the wiring that goes towards the panels in the trailer.

Great idea Jim, most of the wires connect color to same color but not all of them. Good to have a solid reference, especially if you not at home and need to do a quick repair.

Sounds like a bit of a rough trip. When I drop my tailgate prior to pulling away, I wrap the 7 way connector and break away cable into a loop and store it inside the back of the pin box; no need to worry about it falling or getting pulled on something.

We can't do that. We used to, but we had to block up the opening into that space, ever since a bird built a nest in there at our storage yard, and when my husband pulled it out and out came nest and two baby birds.

I just wrap it around the hitch.
