Solitudes & momentum & new ford

Not really a grand design question but a F350 question. For those of you that have new fords with the 3:55 gears and the big campers, how does it handle it. I have one coming, yes the 4:10 owners will say should have that. But I don’t so I would like to hear what the 3:55 owners think now? Looking for the owners with heavy rigs and possibly new dually. Thanks.

Timely question as both my 2019 dually and my 2017 F250 both had 3:55 gears and in my opinion that's the way to go. Just picked up a 2019 Solitude 375RES this week and pulled it about 25 miles home. I have not scaled it yet but will this month but it pulled it just fine. It will accelerate it up to highway speed easily on a short entrance ramp. This trailer is a least 5000 pounds heavier (empty) weight than the Reflection 28BH I pulled with the F250. Here is a roadtrip to Houston and back in the F350 to get the 1000 miles on it to tow per Ford. This is cruise set on 80 mph and some in town traffic miles. Not bad on a new 8800 lb truck. The 3:55's will get you better mileage not towing and still pull a house down the road. Sorry for the long post lol Click image for larger version.

That’s the response I was hoping for. My platinum order won’t be here for another month. The salesmen told me the 3:55 would have lots for my camper with maintaining best empty mpg. I have a 379, our weights will be comparable I’m sure. Thanks for the great news!

You're welcome enjoy the new ride, the Platinum's are gorgeous and with 450 hp and 935 lb/ft of torque the gearing is a moot point lol

Here's my F350 and 399th. I was worried because my truck has 3.55s but it pulls just fine. I've never had 4.10s so I wouldn't know the difference but I'm very satisfied. It will accelerate up a fairly steep grade. I don't think it gets better gas mileage loaded our unloaded though. Seems like after hearing others with 4.10s it's very similar. Could be my led foot though.

Thanks, for highway driving I think it will be just fine. do you have airbags on your trucks? Looks fairly level. I have a deal with the ford dealer that they are putting airbags on this truck. Some are saying I won’t need them. I guess other than a bit choppier when empty it won’t hurt and no doubt times (wind) will help. How is the momentum treating you? We like our solitude but it has had a few issues.

Beautiful setup alanhenson! Your's does look level to me as well. My 375 looks in the pics like its sagging my dually but its not, on level ground it looks like yours. The 350's sit so rearend hi that when you see one level it looks weird

Yes it has Air bags. I've driven without them and wouldn't want to go back. Thanks though.

Our truck has the 3.55 gears and we have no trouble. We have the biggest Reflection 5th wheel loaded with all our stuff weighs around 14K. Happy travels!
