Having had just about every gear choice available I don't think it maters much anymore. The massive hp and torque and auto tranny negate the need for 4.10. For fuel mileage I liked the 3.31, could get 18 mpg at 83mph solo. The new truck has 3.55 and it pulls good. Fuel mileage stinks at the moment but except it to get better as I am at 7300 miles so far. Truck is around 9k and am running around 25k rolling down the road

Hi all - I hope it's OK to revive this thread that's a few months old. . . . . I've been hoping to order a 350 soon w/ the options I want, including the 3:55 gears. However I just swung by the dealer today and he has a truck that's "fairly close" to what I have spec'd except for the 4:10 gears. I wanted the 3:55. I'm in no rush to purchase now so I'm debating picking up this "maybe close enough" truck or just ordering exactly what I want.

Anyone else want to chime in on the 3:55 vs 4:10 discussion? Thanks!

I agree with JMCFAN. Unless you are pulling very heavy in stop-and-go traffic on a regular basis the 4:10 gears are going to cost you $$$ (fuel costs, etc) that you're not going to like over the long term.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion; I'm going to pass on this; for that kind of money I should get exactly what I want; thanks all!

3:55's here as well and no issues pulling my Solitude. The 6.7's max torque is at 1800 rpm's and that's about right where it runs at 60-65 mph when towing. The diesels make so much torque anymore that the couple of hundred rpm's you pick up with 4:10's won't make any difference at all. Mine has no trouble at all accelerating all 26K pounds up an onramp to highway speed.

Great thread. Newbie here, but looking to order new TV before winter. My question is in regards to turning radius of F350 vs F450. Capacity of F350 is sufficient, and I like the idea of 3.55 gear vs 4.30 gear of F450. Also, not thrilled about 19.5 “ commercial tires. Any comments on the need for the tighter turning radius?

Will be ordering a Solitude 310GK in the spring of 2020 to retire and go full time. Thanks for any input.

No help on your question, just wanted to welcome you to the forum.
Plenty of Ford guys here that will help you though.

Thanks for the welcome. I was not sure the post showed up as I did not see it in the thread or responses. Great forum with lots of knowledge for a newbie. Actually, a little overwhelming at times. Trying to avoid costly purchase mistakes going forward, but need to identify the right TV. My 2018 F-150 won’t do the job.

Wanted to add a post to this thread, but it appears I replied instead. Help this newbie to post so comments and questions are visible to all. Thanks
