    Why a 285BHTS over a 312?

So I’m still waiting on the 312 to start production but was wondering if some 285 owners or 312 owners could chime in on why you chose one over the other.

Seeing as the 285 is the closest TT to a 312 I’m just curious what made you go the 285 route over the 312 and vice versa why a 312 owner chose it over a 285.

    Thanks.

We went with the 312 for a couple reasons. The dinette is in your campfire side so your looking out over your campsite and not your neighbor.

It has a true bunk room with tons of storage.

Huge double wide fridge with counter space for days.

Don’t underestimate how nice it is to have washer/dryer hook ups. This is our first camper to have them and it is SO NICE to be able to throw a few shirts or towels in when you head out on an excursion to return to a nice load of clean clothes. My wife loves not having to do laundry for 2 days after we get back from a trip.

Just my .02 but I’d stick with the 312.

Personally I think any camper with your panoramic windows on the "camp side" with the door wins any day. Look at your own family enjoying the picnic tables and outdoor space vs awkwardly having your blinds wide open just to stare at the neighbors campsite!

312 has a much better bunk room, as opposed to just some bunks in the back.

More traditional fifth wheel kitchen layout with the island

View on the camping side as opposed to the neighbors.

Between those two units I don't see any reason to choose anything but the 312. Nice floor plan. To each their own though.

We went with the 285 for the standard bunks instead of the bunk room.
Kids aren't always with us as they are older.

Weight and length. 35' is big enough. 3 slides adds to the weight.

We went with the 312 for a few reasons:

    * true bunk room with a fold out couch. We have anywhere from 2-4 of our girls with us at anytime, so flexibility is nice.
    *island in kitchen
    * the bigger outdoor kitchen is AWESOME!
*Bigger fridge and more slides - more space
    * huge windows in the right spots

    Only negatives so far are:
    * awning - which we knew and accepted
    * size/weight - it’s a beast

I do like a unshaped dinette too, but we were willing to comporomise on that.

Funny you mention the U dinette and the awning cause those are the two things especially the awning that is odd but can’t get away from if you want a opposing slide.

I will say, regarding the awning, it is not as big of a deal now that awnings are so wimpy. We used to keep our old manual awning out almost all of the time. It\f wind was expected, we simply lowered. Kept everything under it dry. I am afraid to leave this power awning out at all when I am not there to retract it if a storm comes in, so it is not as useful anyway.

My buddy left his out overnight, huge rain storm came in and sheeted it right off the side of the trailer. $2500 mistake.

We liked the 312 over the 285 because of the bigger fridge, theater seating, and looking directly at the tv instead it offset.
