    Sailun 235/80/16 or 235/85/16

My TT takes 235/80/16, I'm replaciing the WL tires the day I pick up the new rig with Sailun tires. Is there any benefit to paying the extra few bucks for the 235/85/16? I assume they will fit as they are only marginally taller.

You will get a little more load capacity out of the 235/85/16.

Since I was bored and sitting by my scientific calculator, I ran some numbers.

    ST235/80R16, Diameter = 30.8". Circumference = 30.8" x π = 96.76". Number of revolutions per mile = 63,360"/mile ÷ 96.76" = 654.8 revolutions per mile.
    ST234/85R16, Diameter = 31.7". Circumference = 31.7" x π = 99.59". Number of revolutions per mile = 63,360"/mile ÷ 99.59" = 636.2 revolutions per mile.

In 10,000 miles, you will have 6,548,000 revolutions on the 80 profile tires, and 6,362,000 revolutions on the 85 profile tires. That is a savings of 186,000 revolutions over 10,000 miles.

Useless data from your engineering friend. LOL.

Hahaha. Thanks. I’m laughing out loud at work. Appreciate the info, the 85’s are only a few dollars more.

Order my sailuns today from simple tire. They arrive tomorrow, jeez that’s fast. It probably doesn’t looked too great when I show up to get my new trailer and asked them to take off the westlakes before I go anywhere.

I sold my Westlake China bombs to one of the mechanics at the dealer I bought our Reflection from. He gave me $200 for them.

The Sailun S637 in the 235/85R16 size has a load rating of 4,409lbs vs 4,079lbs for the 235/80R16. The 85 series also has a slightly deeper tread. The higher load rating was important to me so I ordered the 85 series for my new Solitude. They are .9" taller than the 80 series but that shouldn't be a problem. I was curious if there was a difference in construction between the two models so I asked Sailun. Here is their response:

"Brian, there are no other differences between the 80 & 85 series. Construction is the same."
