Front Storage Latch Mod
Even though I’ve never hit my head on the front compartment door hook thingamajig, I knew that at some point I would.
So I took some measurements and each of the 2 components is the same size and has the same hole pattern, so I just swapped them.
It’s also much easier to close now, whereas before I had to contort myself around at a weird angle and fumble with the hook to get it to release, now I just push up firmly and it releases.
I posted a short video on YouTube to show the de-latching process.
Here’s a few before and after pics...

Mine was like your "after" when it arrived. Can't see any good reason to have them put on any other way.

I wrapped Velcro around the holder and stuck a piece to the 5er. I can push the holder up and it sticks up out of the way. Did the same thing to the door holder thing.

Ed - Can you point me to your CAD drawing tool? I've had engineers working for me that took 30 pages of text and technical drawings to describe something that you accomplished in two photos.... LOL.

Last year mine broke in two pieces when I touched it.....literally fell apart. I bought 2 new plastic ones, one as a backup, and reversed it as DMB said. The new configuration works great. I read on the forum to buy plastic ones because the metal ones were too tough and if pulled out, they would pull the screws out and strip it. Sounds logical.
