    Camping at altitude

My place in Texas is 850' ASL. My place in Colorado is 8500' ASL- a big difference!

My generator is a Honda EU7000is with fuel injection so it has no high altitude issues.

What i do notice is that the fridge doesn't get as cold on propane as it does electric. Which makes sense if you think about it since the propane heater in fridge isn't producing as many BTUs. I read somewhere they make a kit to change them for high altitude use, so that's something I need to look into.

The water heater also take a lot longer to heat up at this high altitude. I notice this even if I run both the propane and electric simultaneously

Finally not altitude related but Colorado related. One our last trip last week the temp during the day got to the low 80's. We turned on the a/c but that evening forgot to turn it back to heat. We got up the next morning and it was 48 degrees in the RV- which was the current outside temperature.

Sounds all pretty normal to me. We go from sea level to 10,000 a couple of times a year. I have trouble with my water heater re-lighting above 7000'. I watch my tire pressure. Here's the fun one, make sure plastic bottles stay upright. The dish detergent fell over, the altitude change made the top pop, I had dish detergent in some really hard to get to places. Vice-versa, the milk jug in the refrigerator was about half size when we came out of the mountains into TX. Just some stuff to thing about.....

Normal you lose some found this on a Coleman site
Altitudes above 10,000 ft will have an effect on both propane and liquid fuel stoves. Because of lower air pressure and decreased oxygen at these altitudes, you will experience more yellow flame and less heat output. The stoves will not operate as efficiently.
As far as the heater bet you don't do that again

Donald, are you adjusting the air mixture on your water heater so that you have a clear blue flame?

No, I haven't. I need to look into that on my next trip.

    Thanks

Here's a decent video on how to adjust in case you haven't done it before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSjDklZh4ws

Thank you for that, I will have to look into doing that adjustment.
