Did you buy a lottery ticket yesterday? You're one lucky guy...well maybe not, LOL. Glad you made it home. Look's like another project for 'ole Poppy.

All kidding aside, I'm glad you got home safely. You'll be up and running in no time.

My heart goes out to you on this catastrophe. Especially since we have the 337 also. I hope you find springs of good quality and capacity to remedy this situation. I also would like to upgrade our brakes, drums are functioning but not impressively. I do have a suggestion, that you could consider getting brake rubber lines fabricated with shorter length so you would not need to wrap them below the axles, just concerns me that they are exposed to damage in certain situations. Thank you for all your great contributions to our group, sir!

Well, good news is that GD is sending me 2 sets of 3500# springs. So I should be back on the road soon.

Thanks for all your comments and well wishes.

Removed the broken spring to check it out and discovered a few interesting things.

I put bronze bushings and a full wetbolt kit on it almost 2 years / 35,000 miles ago. The rear bushing on the broken spring was destroyed. The front 2 weren't too bad.

Paul - Those photos of the bushings are disheartening to say the least. I though that the the bronze bushings would last much longer than that. So, it looks like a tear down and inspection is warranted somewhere in the 20k mile range. Shucks (remember, cussing isn't allowed)..

    Hi Paul,

The condition of your bronze bushings doesn't surprise me. The spring eyes are only "sort of" round. When I pressed bronze bushings into my springs, I could tell by looking at them, that from new they were no longer round. A better quality spring would be wrapped around a steel insert that was then bored to fit the bushing.

Yeah, I remember specifically thinking it was odd that the eyes were so out-of-round when I installed these. The busing in the equalizer is near perfect, probably because those holes are machined and perfect themselves.

I guess mostly based on the greatest customer service in the industry and maybe a little because I had brought this potential up previously and it likely could have been prevented.

Glad to hear the parts are on the way. You won't have any problems replacing the springs...maybe it's time to repack the wheel bearings while your half way there.

Hope to see you in Indiana next summer.
