ID:	15749I am installing a sound bar and a new flat screen, I pulled the fire place unit to run the optic cable and a/c power, when I unplugged the fireplace the plug showed signs of arcing and the receptacle was melted,my guess is a poor quality connection and a bit more current draw than it could deal with. I replaced it with a new 20 amp receptacle and finished the installation. I wanted to share what I found so others can prevent an issue. I have a 2015 303RLS but I think they are all about the same with a fireplace.

Really good to know. I'm glad that on a whim, I looked at your post.

But your post title, "I found something worth checking out". ??? Going forward, could you be a little more specific?

    Thanks for the info.

I agree with Andrewssteve's comment--can you please change the title of this thread to "Fireplace Electrical Hazard--Worth Checking!" or something to that effect? Maybe a moderator can move this to the Electrical section, too. (Please don't misunderstand--my only intention is to see your information reach the widest possible audience based on the title and location.)

I see your point, didn’t want to sound like the sky was falling, if I can edit the title I will change it or possibly the moderator will.

If you go to "Edit" and "Go Advanced" you can change the title. In regards to your original post, that's scary! Good information to know.

While working on various projects and upgrades, I have come across some of the same problems with other electrical outlets. I believe that all of them should be checked if possible. At least the ones with a high amperage draw.

Have wondered if the push-in type outlets and connectors contribute to overheating b/c of loose connections. It'd help if the proper install tools & instructions were used.
Found a few loose connections in them, these connectors seem worse than the old push-in outlets that used to common in houses.
I have the fireplace outlet & connector at my house after removing it & replacing it.
