    Electric Heat for the Basement

    I had a thought (don't be scared!)

When using electric heaters instead of the furnace, I am thinking I could mount some kind of fan to the heat register in the basement to suck some of the heat in the coach thru the furnace to the basement. Any thoughts are welcome

    Hi Ted,

It would be ideal if the RV furnace blower could be set to run without turning on the propane burner . . . but, none seem to be wired this way. There was a thread a while ago where someone was trying to figure out how to do this, but I don't think they were successful.

As part of my plumbing rebuild and under belly access doors, I included a 900W 120V car heater. I have had to "fiddle around" with this thing now that the weather has gotten colder to get it to work the way I want. I had to add a heat shield above the heater and install a thermostat remote from the heater. I am monitoring this space with a wireless temperature sensor in a far corner of the space and it is now holding about 12ºC (50ºF) down to below freezing temperatures.

Just a reminder . . . if you use a thread title that describes the topic, this will be useful to others searching for information in the future.
Please put your "I had a thought (don't be scared!)" in the first line of your post if you want . . . but, not in the title.

I've installed the RV comfort systems, love it. I think it provides a more even heat then the LP does. If you are on included or fixed cost for electric, even better. I ran a if electric few numbers, example is $0.012 per KW you would have to buy LP less then $2.26 to break even. That's using 70% efficiency for LP, and 100% for electric. That dosen't take into account the cost and time have LP tanks refilled.

Gee Dennis . . . I wish we had had this discussion before I rigged up my thermostat control system . Never even knew that those Thermo Cube devices existed!
