One advantage of the diesel compared to the gas engine that is often overlooked is the available of fueling at a truck stop. If you don't mind paying a little extra for the fuel, trucks stops always have plenty of room to maneuver the truck and trailer. This is often not the case when looking for a gas station that offers easy ingress / egress to the pumps when towing. Of course, you can always unhook the trailer if necessary to fuel up.

Lazy Days RV won't even sell you a heavy trailer with setting your door sticker first. You must have the right truck before they'll even sell it to you. And yes towing with an F350 dually with adaptive cruise and engine braking is a dream.

From a business standpoint, that doesn't help them with the customer who wants to order a coach and a new truck at the same time. Oh well - their business.

I had to sign a form stating I was responsible for using the proper tow vehicle. This way, they're covered legally while notifying me of the truck requirements.

Currently towing our 2400BH with a 2018 F150 XLT Supercrew SB (3.5L 3.55 GCWR 12400) and so far no issues. Was considering an upgrade to an F250 6.7 Turbo Diesel in order to possible move to a 28BH. That would probably be about as big as we could go with a 3/4 ton. Any opinions? I never really considered a one ton since I wouldn't prefer to have that as my everyday vehicle but should I make that leap?

Yes! You gain very little payload going from your 1/2 ton gas to a 3/4 ton diesel.

I agree. I had a F250 and it only had a payload of 2,000 lbs. You will gain 1,500 lbs. payload with a F350.

A 3/4 ton truck with a gasoline engine has about 1000 lbs more payload capacity than the same truck with a diesel. Modern gasoline engines are easily capable of their CGWR.
