TCL TV, response to remote

My TV is also a pop-up from behind the fireplace. The TV mount has two screws on each side that can be loosened and slots where the TV can be moved up or down. Is yours done different? I have enough adjustment that if I move it to the top the TV would hit the bottom of the overhead cabinet. The bottom of the TV needs to be above the fireplace cabinet in order for the remote to work.

Ours is a freestanding cabinet (no overhead cabinet), but there's a wood panel cover for the hole (when the TV is down) that the TV is already up against. Not my picture, but you can see the wood panel thing in this photo:
