Tesla S Battery Bank for Solar
I'm thinking about using a used Tesla S battery module 24V, 250Ah, 5.2kWh for the TT solar battery bank. It would be a used one from a wrecked Tesla.
Has anyone tried this?

Check out Mortons on the Move. They have a Tesla battery working in their 5th wheel. This series of videos outlines all they did for the solar and Tesla battery install. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fo2...FZtmxI_gcIo6yx
Best of luck! I think it is worth investigating.

I watched the videos and was glad to see that they used a Buck/Boost converter to change the 24VDC to 12VDC instead of changing all the RV 12VDC to 24VDC. I probably would have used a little larger 12VDC battery to run the hydraulics etc.
Glad to see that they used an MPPT solar controller.
Xantrex also makes great Inverter/Chargers but I'm not sure if they are hybrid.
I think it would be cool to utilize the battery plumbing with a pump/heater/heat sink to manage battery temperature.
And since they are being so hi-tech, why not use an AeroGel blanket, the best insulation in the world besides a vacuum. You can get the stuff on eBay. AeroGel is also the lightest solid in the world.Pat&Marlene Gyrogearloose - 2010 Itasca Meridian 34y - 6.7 w/Allison 6spd - Jeep Wrangler Rubicon - previous Reflection 303RLS

I’m guessing you have zero warranty on a battery pulled from a wrecked car?
I kinda like the 10 year warranty on my lithium bank.

I'm getting parts together as we speak. Going with 4 or 6 Tesla batteries and a victron 48v8000 watt inverter. The big difference between the Morton's system and now us there are plug and play bms that will do everything he did as far as voltage and temperature protecting go with far less parts. I'll be going with an REC bms.

Warranty is good. But the Tesla S battery cell is way over engineered for TT application. In the end, you’ll likely get a bigger bang for the buck with a used Tesla battery.
A 48V 200 amp LiFePo4 weighs about 305#’s with 10kWh.
Tesla 24V 233 amp LiFePo4 weighs about 60#’s with 5.3kWh. (5.3 * 2 = 10.6kWh at 120#’s)
The power to weight ratio, over engineered reliability, and cost benefit are definitely big pluses on the Tesla.Kevin & May - Baltimore, MD
