    Tankless Water Heaters

I am thinking about switching out my tanked water heater for a tankless water heater. I am looking for feedback on whether I should do this or not. Looking for both pro's and con's to doing so. It would be great to hear from anyone with experience at making the switch.

The first question would be . . . why would you want to do this? The OE water heater running on gas and electric at the same time can keep up with continuous shower flow through a water saver shower head.

I run out of hot water while taking a shower. I only have about 15 minutes of hot water at the most. I would like to take longer showers.

I'm with you. We have a Truma and love it and the only negative we have is it runs only on propane and not electric. Between me and my wife we can spend all the time we want in the shower and even run the dishwasher while in the shower. Ours came standard in our Coach so I can help with pricing and installation.

We have had the same experience as Rob. With the gas and electric both turned on at the same time we will not run out of hot water. The hot water heater will produce enough hot water so you wouldn't run out of hot water. We have been doing this now for nearly 5 years.

I wonder why I am running out of hot water then. I bought a water saving shower head and installed it. What shower head do you have in your rig?

Have you tried running the heater on gas and electric but separately to make sure both are working. With our heater only running on one of them it will start to cool down a little after about 15 minutes. After checking that I think I would call GD to see what they have to say.

I have seen people at the rv parks changing out their on-demand WH for a tank type WH. They were in hi end big motor coaches.

We have a 12 gallon WH and have no troubles with hot water with it just set on electric. If my wife wants to take a shower right after me, I will turn on the gas also to help it recover faster.

Both the gas and electric are working. Running both I still run out of hot water sooner then I would like.

People told me the same thing and my would cold also. It would hard to switch out my Truma for the regular tank since the compartment it is in only 12 inches by 12 inches and 6 deep. Most of the high-end motorhomes are running Auqahot type diesel/electric water heater that is also their house heater also can heat the floors. The negative to Auqahot is yearly maintenance of 300 to 600 bucks.
