    Morryde Kodiak Disc Brake Actuator

For those of you with the Morryde IS system & Disc brakes, have you ever noticed a slight delay when you activate the trailer brakes with your brake controller in the truck? I was testing my system after bleeding the brakes & I noticed there is a second or so delay if I activate the trailer brakes only while moving. I’m wondering if this is by design so trailer brakes activate after the truck brakes or if I have an issue.

    Thanks in advance.

It's about . 5 seconds and, I believe it's the delay for the hydraulic pump to prime when it received the brake signal from the tow vehicle.

A slight delay is characteristic of all electric-over hydraulic trailer brake systems. As @MoonShadow_1911 said, it's the time it takes for the hydraulic actuator to come up to pressure. We've had two fifth wheels equipped with these systems and the delay on both has been a fraction of a second.

Thanks. I would say this is more like a second & a half. I had a brake line burst & I believe the actuator was not bled when the line was repaired. The manual for the Hydrastar actuator lists a separate procedure for bleeding the actuator.

    Any thoughts?

Yeah, 1.5 seconds is way too long. The lines need to be bled.

What set up do you have for the brake controller? Is EOH selected in settings for the truck?

Ours takes about 1.5 seconds to build pressure while moving also. I wish I could make it faster, I've gotten use to the delay after 6000 miles but its still annoying. According to anything I can find 1.42 seconds is the fastest it will engage. Even in the Hydrastar literature when their website works. Click image for larger version.

The silverado 3500 does not have settings for the factory brake controller to my knowledge.

Thank you so much for providing this info to me. It’s good to know the response delay is normal. Can you provide a link to the chart in your post?
