I did initial setup of my new hitch over the weekend. Have not tried it out yet.
Basically, leveled the trailer (using the frame as my reference point). I setup the hitch on the shank with 5 washers and lined it about even with the trailer hitch (ball height to trailer hitch). I had to jack it it up a pretty good amount to get it where I could easily get the anti-sway bars on. After install everything remained level and truck was pretty close front and back as to where it was when I started. This is a good starting point in my mind.
I am awaiting a $60 thin-walled 1 7/8 inch socket to tighten up the ball. Regular sockets won't drop down into the head.
First test is in about 2 and a half weeks.

Just realized an issue with my approach. I should have measured distance to the ground from the frame at front and back of the trailer, not simply making sure it was level.

As long as you were on level ground it should be the same result.

Overall your approach is the way I have always done it and had good results.

Looks like you are on the right track. A couple test runs and about 10 or so camping trips and you will start to get a grip on whats going on back there. I think I have said previously every trip might be a little different with how you load and what you load. You will get it.

Well tested my configuration this morning. Had to remove one washer to get the angle right for the bars. It was snapping and popping loudly. With one less washer things were much better.
We took it out on the highway and the setup behaved well. Think with my 2018 f150 and the 2.7 eco engine 65 mph is the sweet spot. I upped the pressure on the tires to about 48 and improved somewhat.

I don't want to start a new thread on this silly information request, but it's one of those tire pressure questions. My trailer calls for 80 PSI. Supposedly they were filled with nitrogen. I was checking them yesterday in prep for a weekend camping trip about 60 miles up the road and noticed they were at 75 PSI. Would one bother upping the pressure to 80 (trailer is very lightly loaded)? I know I will eventually introduce plain ole air in the tires, but wondering if one would at this stage.

I have been towing mine for a year at 75, no problems yet. I thought my gage was off but I have checked with others and they all read the same. Mine came from dealer set at 75 so that is what I have been running, also nitro filled.

75psi should be ok. I do target to keep mine at full pressure but I don’t add air at -5psi if I am anxious to get moving. The Equalizer is a great hitch we had one with our travel trailer. I set it up the second time when we traded trucks and it was no sweat. Your setup looks great in the photos. As long as you took your measurements and are having to use your tongue jack to load your bars you should be good to go.

Completed first trip, albeit a short 60 mile one, with the new setup. I like it better than the expedition. Took it up to 70mph and it was fine. Get a little "push" from some trucks but not most. The optimal seems around 65.
