    Campground Near Mt Washington, NH

We are thinking about going to visit Mt Washington NH next year and was wondering any recommendation what campground to stay, what places to see/visit, and places to eat?

    Thanks

We camp here yearly, its a great spot. We always book site 3, 4 or 5. Literally 15 feet or so from the river bank. These sites are expensive but its our yearly splurge. We park our butts in the river and watch canoes and kayaks go by all day. It's in North Conway so lots of restaurants and shopping if that's your thing. Our favorite restaurant is A Taste Of Thai. Lot's to do in the area. Hiking, going for scenic drives, swimming, kayaking...

We've stayed at Twin Mountain KOA a couple of times. Very nice and pretty centralized.

We work camped at Timberland Campground near Shelburne, NH. It was an easy drive to Acadia, Conway, Franconia Notch, and White Mountain.

The people that own the place are very friendly and when we were there they would have a big campfire each evening and invite folks over. There is also a nice walking trail down to the river.

The downside to the place was very limited large RV parking and the train that would come through twice a day. I was never bothered by the train, but some people are super sensitive to them.

Danforth Bay Camping Resort is our home base, an excellent big rig friendly rv park in Freedom, NH. Full hook ups, big sites and wide roads, two heated pools, nice sandy lakefront beach, with great boating, great hiking, plus the park offers lots and lots of amenities. Plenty to do in the area, plenty of good places to eat as well.

The park fills up fast during the summer, reservations are taken a year in advance so consider booking now.

We were just there last September. We stayed outside Gorham, used Dolly Copp NFS campground. Very close to Mt Washington. They are in the process of paving the roads, new shower/restroom buildings on some water/electric sites. Very quite for us in September. I plan to stay there again in our next trip to the NE.
