Question about overflow on fresh water

Is there any reason why it would be a bad idea to make a cap for the overflow on the fresh water tank to be use during traveling?

I did not use a cap, but installed a light weight plastic valve. I can open and fill tank , then close for travel, and the important part is to open before use.
Used this quite a few times last year with no side effects (so far).

There’s several threads on this already.
And yes it’s a terrible idea if you are traveling through different elevations, since the pressure inside the tank will change drastically. Capping that off can cause damage.
It’ll be easier if you just read the other threads though.

This is the solution I came up with that allows the tank to breath while traveling (and when used) and prevents any water loss.
    Hope it helps

Or install a “Sharkbite” valve from Home Depot, install takes 5 seconds.

My Imagine has the overflow hose plus a vent by the fill cap. I will need to check if the vent has been used and connected to the tank. If the vent is connected, I will pick up the shark bite valve and install it.

It's a simple solution and doesn't hang down super low, no lower than my suspension.
The valve will swivel 360 degrees after installation so you can put the handle wherever is easiest to reach it.
The valve handle is bright Orange
