    Floor repair 367BH

I had an unfortunate event back in the winter that led to a good amount of water in the floor of my camper. It’s a long story so I won’t bore you with the details but I will say lesson learned the hard way!

At any rate I have some minimal floor damage that I thought would be much worse. The sub floor has a little swell and I can feel ripples underneath the vinyl in the entrance of my camper. This is the exact area where the water pooled for about an hour before I discovered it running out the front door. So it’s pretty obvious the subfloor received some water damage there. The rest of the floor feels fine. Being a DIY guy and fairly handy I want to try and replace the subfloor in this area. I’m thinking I’ll get the vinyl up and cut out the bad area and replace.

I’m looking for advice on the best way to do this, or a better way.

The area circled is where the floor feels different.

How do I remove the bottom piece of carpet to inspect this area for damage, is the slide floor going to be in the way?

There was a thread awhile back where someone did something similar. I believe they cut the vinyl along the "grout lines" and peeled it back. They used a circular saw set to 5/8" depth and cut out the bad section. I'm pretty sure they added some new floor joists where the new edge was and cut new plywood to fit the hole. After they fastened the plywood they laid the vinyl back and used some type of vinyl sealer for the new seam.
