Question for all tire Guru's
I don't know much about tires, and, I'm sure this has been discussed, so, please accept my apologies. I am going to replace my Westlake tires with GY Endurance. The info on the Westlake tire is ST-235/80R16. Speed Rate "L". 124/120L. Based on the Americas Tire spec sheet, the Endurance is ST235 /80 R16 123N E1 BSW. I'm assuming that the "123N" is the load index and speed rating. If that is the case, the speed rating is better than that of the Westlake. The Westlake tire has a load index of 124/120, and the Endurance has a load index of 123. I don't understand why the Westlake show two load ratings, and the Endurance tire shows one. So, is this Endurance tire an acceptable replacement for the stock Westlake tire?

I sure hope so! https://www.mygrandrv.com/fo...light=Goodyear
A "senior" member of this forum (and also a moderator) @TucsonJim has these tires, too.
@Leon T has the same trailer as you and he runs them.2017 Ford F-350 DRW 6.7L Platinum

You will be happy with the Goodyears. I was told the "speed rating" on the Goodyears was 82 mph. I try to keep my speeds down to 87 or 88 on the freeway when towing. Just kidding. I generally run about 68 when towing which seems to be my truck's sweet spot. Without the cruise on though I've caught myself doing 80+ on long stretches of interstate and not even realizing it.

The Goodyear Endurance tires have a speed rating of "N" which is 87 mph, so you're good at that speed Leon T .
I find it interesting that both Westlake and Goodyear apply a Load Index number, but their specification tables are slightly off from that number. For example, Goodyear uses a load index of 123 which equals 3,417#. Yet Goodyear specifications state the tire is rated for 3,420# and that is what is stamped on the tire also. On the Westlake tire, the assigned load index is 124 (3,527#), but they rate the tire at 3,520 which is just a little under that load index.
I've had a bad experience with a Westlake tire, so I'm running the Endurance now.

Yeah about the time people have figured it out, they gotta go and throw in another number E1 Vs E2) just to confuse things again.
I was going to replace our RV Westlake tires ST225/75/15 E 117L ( 80psi at 2833#) with GoodYear Endurance ST 225/75/15 117N E1 (the E1 meaning 80psi max)(E2 would be 65 psi max). Supposedly that means the same tire can hold the same weight of 2833# at the lower E2 65psi pressure. I Think!? But more softer?!
I don't really care about the speed rating, BS to me, I always travel 70 mph and under anyway.
I was thinking I could take the old Westlakes and put them on my car trailer which has old ST 205/75/15 D 107. But the difference is the 225 is 1 inch wider and about 0.5 taller. They say it would take a wider 15 inch rim to do this.
Oh well,Last edited by Steven@147; 02-08-2019 at 10:42 AM.
