Loaning out your RV.
I wanted a general consensus on this. If a close relative, in this case my adult son, who lives out of state asked to borrow your rig to live in for a month to save some money would you let him. With slide outs, a large investment, and all the things that could go wrong, would have me greatly concerned. My initial thought is "No", because that is my pride and joy. What are your thoughts?

I dont think I could do it. I might consider a night or two if it were parked in my driveway while I was home to address any issues if they came up.

That little voice, in your head (This won’t end well). Listen to it. Bound to end in hard feelings all around. You might point out to him that it’s not as cheap as he thinks (and often, “the cheap turns out expensive”), and find some other way to help him out.

Will the RV be in a separate location from your residence?
I missed the out of state part. I would struggle with this but would do it under the agreement that it stays in one place and I get it back in one month. You know him better than anyone. Can you trust him with your pride and joy?Last edited by MidwestCamper; 01-04-2019 at 03:15 PM.

We were in this situation once a number of years ago when we owned a hard top camper. It was my sister that asked to borrow it. We said no and it didn't seem to lead to any hard feelings one way or another. Can't say what my response would be to one of my kids though.

For me it would depend on how responsible the person is. If my daughter wanted to borrow ours I wouldn't hesitate to let her use it. ( as long as we didn't have a trip planned).
If the person is like my brother in law, who is a smoking, alcoholic slob...I'ld say no way in hell.People keep telling me to follow my dreams...so I went back to bed

Nope. Depending on the circumstances, I'd rather pay for him to stay in one of those extended stay motels for a month.
We owned a lake home for years. After moving out and keeping it only for a vacation home, we let some close family use it from time to time. While they didn't overtly abuse the property, they just did not take care of it like we would. I would never have let them use our RV.2019 Solitude 384GKR

I would not unless the person had the money to pay for any necessary repairs after use.

We had some good friends ask if they could stay in the 310GK when they came to visit. Our immediate answer was "No, you can stay in the house but not the trailer". I would feel the same way about a son or daughter.
