    Yes, dielectric grease will make it easier to insert and remove the connections.
    The downside will be that you will need to be very careful to not allow the connector with grease on it touch the ground. Dirt, sand, grass, and whatever with stick to the grease and then you'll have a mess.
    I'm speaking from experience.
    Once my connectors starting getting sand in the grease it took forever to clean out the contaminated grease to clean up the mess.

    After a trip to the dealer, our 50amp connector refused to connect. The dealer had somehow bent the “pins” out of shape.

    Since you can connect yours may be close to the correct shape, but they might be binding to create the friction you’re fighting. A pair of strong pliers and a careful eye might help in addition to lubrication. Ours is not lubricated and now works easily.
