Arkansas Suggestions
Going in May/June and putting ideas together. So far I have in no exact order:
Petit Jean, Hot Springs, Lake Catherine, Robbers Cave, Crater of Diamonds, Buffalo River.
Any ideas are welcome. Or bad experiences to avoid.Bill and Kim

Fort Smith is very historic with Judge Parkers court, gallows and museum. Also great rv park in Barling run by the Army Corps of Engineering. Costs $9/night with Golden Eagle card.

Visit Lake Ouachita in addition to Lake Catherine. Lake Ouachita State Park, like all Arkansas state parks has consistently better sites and hook-ups than the federal parks. You should reserve at Arkansas state parks soon as they fill up. Petit Jean is another excellent park. There is much more in the Ozarks than the Buffalo River. Look into Devil's Den State Park and Eureka Springs. Scenic hikes are at Lost Valley, Pedestal Rocks, and Hawksbill Crag.
Little Rock isn't a must-see but if you do come in for the River Trail, Big Dam Bridge, or Clinton Library, you can stay close at North Little Rock's Riverfront RV park but most people prefer to stay at Maumelle Park.2018 Reflection 303RLS

Added all these to my list of options. This weekend we'll be camping on Lake Travis and I plan to spend some quiet time reviewing all the options with Kim.

Petit Jean SP is very nice. Large park like area with sites on their outer perimeter. Lake Catherine has some nice hiking also , some of the sites are pretty steep and unlevel. Especially the older lake front sites.
For a resort type park Catherine's Landing.
We haven't stayed at Bull Shoals further north but we did drive thru and it looks nice as well.
From our experience Arkansas seems to do a good job with their parks overall but it can be a bit tricky getting your desired dates.Vickie & Charlie

To go to Robbers Cave you will need to cross state line into Oklahoma, lol. It is an interesting place and worth the visit in my book. As to Arkansas, Crater of Diamonds is a good stop, Petit Jean is another good stop. If you are going to the Buffalo River you might as well go a little further and stay at the White River State Park outside of Mountain Home. If you want to stop in Little Rock, we use the Riverside RV Park in North Little Rock. Fronts on the Arkansas River, a walking bridge across the river to the Clinton Library amongst other things. So we're choosing between these 3 camps for the Hot Springs stay. Catherine's Landing, Treasure Island RV Park, and Lake Catherine State Park. Any thoughts? Can the State Park handle the long camper? Map looks like it can.

We had our 35' fifth wheel at LCSP with no problem. That time of year the lake should be nice. They draw it down later and it's a little smelly and not too appealing. Catherine's landing is very convenient to town and has a nice pool ,zip lines , and climbing towers if you're traveling with kids. Actually we did the zip lines ourselves . Water spots back up to the Quachita (?) River. A couple of short scenic drives and the Mountain Tower in town.
Fried catfish and shrimp at Mr. Whiskers. Ohio Club in town for burgers.
Sorry. Too much info so I'll stop nowVickie & Charlie

We were at LCSP back when we had the TS Motorhome (43'), a little tight around one of the corners in the campground but other then that, no problem
