Running across Texas, Oklahoma, the speed limit is 80. I drive at a sedate 70. no problems. Thanks.

I haven't been following this thread, but a scan through it leaves me trying to figure out where it went off the rails. So instead of trying to address anything specific let me re-emphasize one of the hallmarks of this forum.

The hallmark I want to reinforce is that we keep our conversations civil. That does NOT mean we all sit around and sing kumbaya together--disagreements are expected and actually encouraged. Vigorous debate is interesting! But--and this is a big but--attacking a fellow site member because of their opinion will be challenged by the moderator team.

Even if they do like the new Chevy. (Sad attempt at humor. Sorry.)

Bottom line--this thread will stay open but if it strays again it will be closed.

We've had this discussion before. Lots of trucks can get their rig up to (or over) the speed limit. The questions is . . . can you get this plywood box with a high centre of gravity on 1950s technology brakes stopped?, if you blow a tire on either trailer or truck?, or someone nails the brakes in front of you? Use the search tool in the upper right corner on "Kinetic Energy" for the engineering numbers.

I'm not sure if I'm still on topic (kinda forgot what the topic was) but someone mentioned the Ike Gauntlet. Last year I had the pleasure to pull the Ike Gauntlet. I didn't even know I was on it until I got to the top. If I had I would have let the truck go and seen what it would do. What it did do I thought was pretty good for not really pushing it hard. I started out at 60mph (4th gear) at the bottom. I just held it at 60 until it started to lose speed then I shifted down a gear (3rd gear). I was near the top so I just held 55mph the rest of the way and through the tunnel. My trailer weight was right at 17K. I thought my 2016 Ram did pretty well. That is one steep climb when you get towards the top. It would have been more fun if I had known where I was LOL.

Ike is quite a pull in the thin air. I really think all three manufactures build a product that are comparable. None are bad any longer.

Totally agree, was really my point. I don't think there's much of a difference in any of them. pick the one you like and go with it. None of our trailers will even come close to the maximum combined rating for any of them once the new GM twins are released. They were lagging behind for awhile in max capacity but still had plenty for any GD rv.

At this point I wouldn't have a problem buying any one of the big three. Ford was in the penalty box for awhile with the 6.0 debacle and they way they treated my dad with his, but time heals all wounds

It was the 6.4 that nearly turned me off Ford.

Yea the 6.4 was the worst one. The 6.0 was a good engine if you wanted to put the money into it because of stupid mistakes they made with it. Bulletproofing it would fix it but it wasn't cheap.
