After being in the ins biz for 50+ years with a Berkshire Hathaway insurance operation, I may have a slightly different perspective. Decisions of which carrier to go with are subjective, based on experience, and need for asset protection. I keep all of our coverage with State Farm because they CAN cover everything, and I have an umbrella policy on top of my primary $ 250/500/100 limits. Interestingly, over the years I have found State Farm competitive with Geico for ALL coverage.....even with my BH employee discount.

Replacement cost is going to be pricier than ACV in almost every case. Most ACV policies include language that allows the carrier to "replace the damaged unit with like kind and quality" which means if they can find a 2019 Momentum 376th with similar miles they can just replace our "totaled" unit. Minor losses are where the depreciation factor will come into play......just like it does on your auto policy.

I just paid $384 for a 1-year policy with National General. I carry a $500 deductible and it covers the trailer for collision/non-collision, liability, personal effects, towing and labor, replacement cost and has a diminishing deductible. I don't know why the price difference is so large, but that's what I pay.

Pricing is dramatically affected by where you are located.....each state is going to be different in rate structure and how final rate/premium is determined.

Case in point.......rates are based on loss experience in a given territory.......my homeowners insurance on a $ 950,000 home in SoCal is $ 1,090 a year.....no EQ coverage......have another home near Branson MO, worth maybe $ 100,000, and my homeowners insurance there is $ 2,220 a year.......but the home in MO has had two roofs (out building also) replaced and three sides of siding in 5 years........loss experience in a given territory is then "divided" up among the purchasers in that territory. Same applies to the RV insurance......shareholders require carriers to make money, so they need to charge rates that will allow them a 3-5% underwriting profit.

State Farm for me. $333 annually for $500 deductible on our Solitude. The old Reflection was $244/year but worth half as much. We live in Oregon and the biggest hail I've seen in 50 years is pea sized.
